Awakening through Sound

Evergreen Healing Arts - 11 West Main Street, Bradford, NH
This immersive half-day workshop is an invitation to experience the transformative power of sacred sound through Sanskrit – the language of yoga, mantra and chanting.
Why do we chant Oṃ? Or chant Oṃ namaḥ śivāya or oṃ dūm durgāyai namaḥ? What are we really invoking with these ancient sounds—and why have they endured for thousands of years?
In this half-day workshop, we’ll explore and decode the deeper meaning behind sacred sounds, including the subtle layers of a well-known mantra, uncovering how it works energetically and spiritually.
Guided by Tara Mahady, we’ll explore the yoga of sound—and the vibrational intelligence of the Sanskrit alphabet, revered in many Yogic and Tantric traditions as the elemental building blocks of creation. Through sacred sound, we’ll attune to the subtle frequencies of mantra and learn how these vibrational formulas can awaken, refine, and align our inner landscape to the collective and cosmic landscapes.
In this workshop, you’ll be guided through several different forms of mantra practice, including:
-
Japa – the meditative repetition of mantra, often with a mālā, to concentrate and clear the mind
-
Stotram – devotional hymns and poetic invocations that open the heart and invoke specific qualities or deities
-
Nyāsa – the placement of mantra within the body, a powerful Tantric technique that “installs” sound vibrations throughout the energetic body to enliven specific centers and align inner space.
We’ll also explore:
• The cosmology and vibrational map of the Sanskrit alphabet
• How different sounds relate to the chakra system and energetic anatomy
• The lived, felt experience of how mantra works across the practical, subtle, and causal levels of being—clearing pathways, anchoring awareness, and aligning us with deeper states of consciousness
This is for you if...
-
You’re a yoga asana practitioner wanting to expand into the deeper, more subtle limbs of practice
-
You’re a meditator curious to incorporate sacred sound or mantra into your sadhana
-
You’ve worked with mantra before and want to understand the different types, structures, and applications of mantras more deeply

Or you simply want to explore mantra as a healing, clarifying path
No Sanskrit or chanting experience is necessary—just an open heart and a willingness to explore.
